How We Write About Confinement

Golden Month sells traditional Chinese postpartum foods, so we have a stake in this subject. Here's how we try to keep our writing useful and fair.

  • We separate tradition from evidence. When something comes from Chinese postpartum tradition, we say so. When research doesn't support a traditional belief, we say that too.
  • We use sources you can check. Health information comes from government health services, professional bodies and published studies. Tradition comes from published books on zuò yuè zi.
  • Our products are foods, not medicine. Nothing on this site is medical advice. Please talk to your doctor or midwife about your own recovery.
  • We say when we mention our own products. Articles link to what we sell where it's relevant.
  • We correct mistakes. If you find one, email us and we'll check it and fix it.
